Active Sites

The EEG Platform operates at the following research sites:

  • Simon Fraser University (Surrey, British Columbia)

Platform Overview

The Electroencephalography (EEG) Platform is responsible for the collection, standardization, and analysis of brain electrical activity data, also known as electrophysiological or EEG data. This platform examines patterns of electrical activity in the brain during rest, during the performance of functional tasks, and in response to non-invasive brain stimulation such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Through this work, the platform aims to better understand how brain activity differs in individuals with depression and how it changes in response to treatment.

A central goal of the EEG Platform is the identification of reliable EEG-based biomarkers that can inform diagnosis, predict treatment response, and support the development of more targeted therapeutic approaches for depression. These insights also contribute to the long-term development of EEG-based tools that could be used in both research and clinical settings to improve decision-making and patient care.

Achieving these objectives requires standardized data collection and harmonized analytic approaches across multiple participating EEG sites. The EEG Platform provides leadership in this effort and works closely with other CAN-BIND platforms to integrate EEG data with clinical, biological, and neuroimaging information. Through this collaborative approach, the platform supports the development of integrated technologies aimed at improving outcomes for individuals living with depression.
